  • Yea, this stuck me as funny too. I've gone in and updated the lake's description, fixing several other problems in the process.

  • Pushaw Lake lies within the boundaries of the City of Old Town and the towns of Orono, Glenburn, and Hudson. Dutton and Kirkland haven't existed for over one hundred fifty years as legal entities!

Pushaw Lake Description

Maine Atlas map 23 A-2, Map 33 E-2 or Maine Fishing depth maps page 120

Pushaw Lake lies in the towns of Orono, Glenburn, Hudson, and Old Town of Penobscot County, Maine. It is about 7.5 miles long and one mile wide on average. It is fed primarily by upper Pushaw stream, and it empties into lower Pushaw stream and then into the Stillwater River, which meets the Penobscot at Orono. Pushaw Lake is partially formed by Pushaw Lake Dam on the lower Pushaw Stream. Though the dam, which was completed in 1920, increased the overall size and depth of the lake, Pushaw was a popular recreational destination well back into the 1800’s. At normal levels, the Lake has a surface area of 7.9 square miles. The shores are heavily developed with homes and camps, but less so in its southeastern and northeastern bowls. It has concrete public boat ramps in Glenburn and Orono and an unimproved launch point in Old Town. There is no public access from Hudson. A relatively shallow lake, it supports warm-water species best and is not managed for cold-water species.
